:iconoc-rp-universe:

:bulletgreen:Preferred RP Style: Prefer Para/Book, but completely willing to do Script as well.
:bulletgreen:Character’s Genre: Fantasy

:bulletgreen:Name: Rhia Thornhoof

:bulletgreen:Nick Names: Ri

:bulletgreen:Age: 310 years

:bulletgreen:Height: Humanoid Form: 6’0”/ Equine Form: 14.5 hh

:bulletgreen:Weight: Humanoid Form: 130lbs/ Equine Form: 850lbs

:bulletgreen:Species: Unicorn/ Dryad Hybrid

:bulletgreen:History:
Many…many years ago a young ash tree dryad, named Melia, was out and about in her forest home as she usually did on such a sunny and lovely day. Singing and laughing as she cavorted through the woods and brush the ghastly sight she came upon that morning immediately cut her merriment short. Shock and pity overcame the ethereal woman as she approached what appeared to be a wounded beast; struck by a hunter’s arrow. Snow white fur was stained red with blood from the wound in the poor creature’s neck, and with a careful, delicate hand Melia touched a magnificent single golden horn that protruded from its forhead as she tried to soothe the animal.

“What a tragedy that a thing of such astonishing beauty should suffer a fate like this….” she cooed to the unicorn. Upon hearing the dryad’s voice the beast opened up a single golden eye to see who had spoken to him, and with pleading in his voice he returned her soft words.

“Please,” he begged, “…end my pain forest spirit. I fear this arrow will be the death of me, and I do not wish to linger longer than I must.”

Melia paused, and considered his request. A terrible waste of such a glorious being! The selfish creature she was, the dryad refused to let such a pretty thing go so easily. How much better her forest would be if he remained here with her, but it was clear by the light fading from his eyes he did not have long. It was then Melia formed an idea…

“I will help you pass white beauty, however you must give me some of your essence…your magic as you go. It pains me to know your splendor will not live on, and I have ached for a child for so long…” It was a lie she knew, a child was the last thing the dryad had wanted, but perhaps in his current state he would not see through her ruse. “Please…lend me a part of yourself to create one who will live in your stead, and so that I may finally be a mother…”

“….Agreed,” the stallion breathed heavily, unaware of the selfish desires he settled upon. Had he a longer life to look forward to the unicorn would have wanted a family of his own, and thought himself doing a good deed by aiding this woman in her own quest for such. A smile crept across Melia’s face as she nodded, and administered a poison to end the creature’s life quickly and without further suffering. As he drew his last breath the dryad collected what she required, a brilliant ball of light rested in her hand of what remained of the unicorns power, and she left…leaving behind a mound of moss and wildflowers.

Several months later Rhia was born from the hollow of an old oak tree.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rhia never knew much of her mother growing up. As an infant the flighty dryad grew weary of trying to raise the child on her own, and relinquished the babe to a distant elven village where she confided in an elder to raise the girl, effectively passing along the chore of rearing the child to another. Unable to turn away the infant the woman, Elai Thornhoof, took Rhia in and raised her as her own. The halfling girl grew to love the elves around her as her true family, and learned many things from them. Rhia had a knack for archery and picked it up rather quickly as she aged, but when it came to plants she was a natural and Elai found it difficult to teach anything that the girl didn’t already know or learned on her own.

Adolescence came quickly to the dryad’s daughter and Rhia found herself wandering off more and more. Something was calling to her, driving her deeper into the woods beyond the safety of her village, and it wouldn’t let her rest until she discovered the source. Finally Rhia made the difficult decision to pack her things and depart. As much as it pained her to leave the only “family” she had ever known Rhia understood her life’s path was taking her elsewhere. After a tearful goodbye the young snow haired woman tightened her grip on her pack and bow, and left to search for the relentless force that was summoning her.

Months had passed…
Rhia had gone through many experiences and trials varying from terrifying, heartbreaking, and joyful, as she followed the instinctive pull towards an unknown destination. Thinking there would never be an end to her expedition she came to a clearing and collapsed, allowing herself to sleep for what she expected to be a brief moment before continuing on. When her eyes finally fluttered open she was encased in darkness. Panic set in as she pushed against a solid force that seemed to be all around her, and strangely enough with each pounding the force seemed to give way little by little. Finally Rhia was able to push her way out, and it was then she realized that what held her “captive” was a very…very large oak tree. The same one that that protected and nurtured her until the day she was born…

“Welcome home my child,” a light and smooth voice called from behind her. “Welcome home…”

….Melia smiled at her now fully grown daughter, pleased with how nicely Rhia had developed and proud that it was she who had given this lovely creature life. Successfully using the girl’s birth tree to call her here the dryad had finally obtained what she desired ....for in the half blood that stood before her now shone the same radiance she saw in that dying white beauty all those years ago.

Present Day
Rhia lives alone in a vast clearing in her forest home. The giant trunk of an ancient oak tree, that bore her as a baby, serves as her house and her gardens litter the open space surrounding it. Several natural ponds and pools are also located on her property, and one large hot spring lies below the oak in a cavern amongst its intertwined roots. Here she spends her days happily tending to her beloved plants, and protecting both the natural flora and fauna of the surrounding area with her magic. Ri often gets folk from far and wide who seek both the common and rare plants she grows as well as the products (potions, medicines, oils, etc) that she makes from them. Readily welcoming visitors who make the long and somewhat arduous journey to her home she quite enjoys the company that stops in from time to time.

However respect must be paid to both Ri and her forest….those who wish harm will find themselves confronted with the business end of Rhia’s bow, or as food for her “pet” carnivorous plants.

:bulletgreen:Personality:
Kind hearted, gregarious, and level headed are just a few words to describe Rhia. She often takes a maternal role in her relationships, and loves to be of service for those who are in need. Because of her unicorn heritage she’s drawn towards the innocent, and sees it as her duty to protect the weak. While she gets her nurturing side from her father, from her dryad mother Ri gets a touch of her feisty playfulness.

Just like her favorite flower, roses, don’t be fooled by the lovely and delicate appearance; this filly has
thorns and isn’t afraid to use them.

:bulletblue:Likes:

-Flowers/ Plants/ Gardening
-Making things from her plants/ Experimenting with them.
-Archery
-Honesty/ Loyalty
-Being around her Tree.
-Pomegranates (they’re like candy for her)
-Good wine
-The non-destructive insects, reptiles, and other critters that hang around in her gardens ^^.
-Running
-Her elven family.

:bulletblue:Dislikes:

-Dishonesty/ Liars
-Those who don’t respect her forest.
-Strong storms
-Fires, Forest fires to be specific...
-Bad manners
-Thieves
-Tangled hair
-Bullies
-Being separated from her Tree for too long.

:bulletblue:Strengths:

-Excellent archer
-Intelligent
-Quick, agile, and graceful
-Big heart
-Protector
-Immortal to an extent that if not fatally wounded in some manner she will live forever. Since both parents were/are immortal creatures as well. Uses the essence of her longevity in her healing magics to make them more potent.
-Resistant to disease.

:bulletblue:Weaknesses:

-Not good at melee combat
-Other than what her magic affords, her defense is minimal
-Very fearful of deep water where she cannot touch the bottom, or large out of control fires.
-Sometimes too trusting
-Hard to hide all that white hair when trying to be stealthy >>;
-Fire magics
-Can die from wounds that cannot be healed quickly enough.
-Should her Tree come to ruin and perish, Rhia will only survive at most 2 years before she too will die.

:bulletgreen:Abilities:

-Earth Magic (originates from Dryad half): Can manipulate plants and earth (stone, soil, etc), and can “communicate” with them as well. Primarily she uses it to grow her spectacular gardens. Her favorite spells allow her to place seeds in her hair and control them at will. These often reflect her mood. Can use in conjunction with her archery, and healing magic. Uses to manipulate her birth Tree in order to keep it safe, and of course to do many fun tricks with :3.

-Healing Magic (originates from Unicorn half): Can infuse her plants with her healing essence to make some fantastic medicine! These spells are stronger when in her unicorn form. Primarily used for healing the sick and injured, and as long as someone is still alive she’s usually successful in making them healthy again. Unlike her earth magic, healing can take quite a bit out of her since it’s drawn from her own immortal life essence. She’ll be sick for a few days after bringing back someone from the brink of death. As well as this works on others the most this ability affords for herself is quicker than normal healing. If she is fatally wounded she’s pretty much shit out of luck :D.

-Healing Potions, Salves, etc
-Poisonous plants, potions, etc
-Herbalism: Primarily for use in potions.
-Has a unicorn form she can transform into.

:bulletgreen:Fighting Style/ Weapons:

-Prefers to stay hidden, and fight from a distance. (Ranged attacks in general)
-Bow and arrows are favored weapons, but she has been known to use her garden tools, specifically the sickle, in a pinch.
-No armor of any sort is worn.
-Uses seeds that she can grow at a rapid rate using her magic as weapons or means of defense.
-Watch out for her hooves….she knows how to use them well >>;.

:bulletgreen:Random Facts: (Perpetual WIP |D)

-Likes to sing to her plants, but won’t do so if she things others are around.

-Loves hanging wind chimes and bird houses everywhere around her home.

-The tattoo on the back of her neck is also her insignia and uses it to mark her goods.

-Doesn’t often leave her home as she is very bonded to her Tree, but from time to time she does travel back to see Elai and the other villagers.

-Although Ri’s mother is still very much alive she does not have a close relationship with her, and considers the elves that raised the hybrid her family.

-Melia, Rhia’s birth mother, lives several miles from Rhia’s home in the same forest. Although Rhia wishes it was much farther than that.

-..Melia keeps close tabs on her daughter. Although there isn’t much she can do to stop her from leaving every now and then it doesn’t mean there is no effort put forth to keep her confined to the forest she lives in.

-Rhia might be immortal but that doesn’t mean she cannot die. If a wound severe enough is inflicted she could very well die from it just like any other if not healed quickly enough. Her birth Tree is basically her source of her longevity, and if it were to be destroyed Rhia would only last about 2 years and then fade away herself. The Tree would wither and die immediately if Rhia perishes.

-Only two people know of the little fact mentioned above. Rhia and Melia. They both like it that way. To outsiders it's just her home.

-Rhia’s earth magic comes in handy when she leaves as she can hide her Tree to protect it while gone, either masking it as some other earthen object or burying it altogether underground. Melia has been known to watch over it as well during Rhia’s absences. On very rare occasions she has shrunk it back into a seed and wears it as a pendant to carry it with her. It’s a rare occurrence because she’s ill and worn out for about a week afterwards.

:bulletgreen:Relationships: None

**Note: I have not decided if I want to add Melia or Elai as actual characters, but they could make rare/brief appearances in role plays as NPC’s. Just as a fair warning :D. I’ll most likely get brief single pics of them up at some point in time and just attach the images to Rhia’s App here.**
